NIE Post Register's Excellence in Education
The following lesson plans were taken out of guides that were specially designed for specific subjects and age groups. If you are interested in obtaining a complete curriculum guide, please contact Jennifer Jolley at jjolley@postregister.com.
The first activities, An Introduction to the Newspaper, A day with No Books, and Treasure Hunt Through the News, can be for all age groups. You can scale the lessons down or up to fit the appropriate level, and are good for introducing and exploring the newspaper.

To help our teachers meet the federal requirement that schools teach about the U.S.
Constitution every September 17th, the NIE Institute has compiled ready-to-use lessons
for kindergarten through twelfth grade. The adapted Center for Civic Education We The People
Constitution Resources includes newspaper lessons at the end of each chapter. The We The
People materials are great for Constitution Day or Week, but have more content to use
throughout the school year. To order, e-mail jjolley@postregister.com
and you will receive a return e-mail with the print ready PDF to review and download at your convenience!
